Stay & Play
(Forest School)

"We have had so much fun the last few weeks and can't wait to come back soon."
 - Parent email, 2025
Picture
Friday's (term time only) @ 9.30 - 11.30am

Walkers & talkers
Our setting provides many play opportunities for child led nature inspired play, including woodland arts and crafts, stories and songs, nature walks around the gardens and visiting the onsite animals.

Each week is tailored depending on the individual developmental stages, and the developing fascinations of each of the participants with respect to the weather on the day. As the group learns and grows together their skills build.

Babies & crawlers
We welcome new parents and their babies to join our sessions. This will provide sensory exploration for your child, as well as huge benefits to the parent attending, through your emersion in an outdoor environment, embracing a slower way of life, and meeting like minded families. Sibling babies in arms can come for free but will need their own ticket once they are mobile.
“Forest School is a long term process of frequent and regular sessions in a woodland or natural environment”
– The Forest School association.

Although just dropping in for a few weeks is fun, Forest School is intended as a year round community that can support the development of curiosity, risky play and problem solving skills. Participants will have opportunities to use tools, explore creative opportunities, refining skills and develop independence. Children need time to develop their own knowledge, strengths and this repetition deepens their understanding and resilience. Forest School provides holistic experiences that support the development of the child (and adult) as a whole.

All carers are welcome to sessions, whether that is a parent, grandparent, child-minder or foster carer. We have camping toilets and changing spaces, as well as adult toilet facilities and access to hot and cold water. We have tarpaulin shelters for rainy or winter weather and can provide somewhere for nursing mothers to sit privately if required.
